Situated high above the Mangde Chhu River, Trongsa Dzong boasts a strategic vantage point overlooking the entire Trongsa valley. This impressive fortress was built in the 17th century and remains the seat of the Trongsa district administration. The dzong also houses the monastic body and serves as a symbol of the historical importance of the Trongsa region, as both the first and second kings of Bhutan ruled the country from this fortress.
