Longyearbyen Cemetery is the world's northernmost resting place, dating back to the early 20th century. This small and picturesque cemetery holds the graves of victims from the 1918 influenza pandemic, along with various miners and polar explorers. Due to the extreme weather conditions, burials do not take place here anymore, as the permafrost prevents human remains from decomposing. Visiting this cemetery provides an intriguing insight into the harsh realities of living in such a remote and cold environment.
