Yapahuwa was a 13th-century capital of Sri Lanka and is known for its stunning rock fortress built on a 90-meter-high rock outcrop. Although not as well-known as Sigiriya, Yapahuwa offers a unique historical experience with its ornate staircase adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, as well as the remains of ancient buildings, temples, and an impressive palace.
