The Bolas de Fuego, or Balls of Fire, is a unique and fiery cultural event that takes place in the town of Nejapa, El Salvador. Held annually on August 31st, this festival commemorates the eruption of the San Salvador volcano in 1658. Participants paint their faces and throw flaming balls made of rags soaked in kerosene at each other in a daring display of El Salvador's lively traditions.
