The Peony Pavilion, also known as Mudanting, is a famous Chinese Kunqu opera masterpiece, with performances held at the Garden of Cultivation in Suzhou. The 1598 work, which combines poetry, literature, music, and dance, tells a love story between a scholar and a fairy maiden.
